Statement of Intention

Statement of Intent

Example from a music class:

In this unit we have to compose a song, I intend on exploring my options however focusing mainly on more popular genres either pop or incorporating some rap as I see fit.  I have done this since I am most interested in song writing and I think these genres opposed to more classical will give me more of an opportunity. These two genres, among with indie and soul are also what I listen to the most so I am most familiar, therefore I think it will be easier to compose in this genre. I  also intend in using the guitar as my instrument of choice as it is the instrument I am most familiar and I think it is the one that gives the most freedom even when one does lack in technical knowledge. For instance while I do know how to play the violin to some extent I think it's an instrument that's much harder to explore, also I think to use it I the genres of my choice would be harder and would require a much higher level of ability. Lastly I want my lyrics to be meaningful and represent a view I have concerning either politics or social issues as I think it will be easier to portray a stronger emotion and possibility compensate for some lack in dimension with the instrumental of my composition.
